UK’s Defence Ministry donates aircraft to Combined Cadet Force
The UK’s Ministry of Defence has donated a Cessna aircraft to Jamaica’s Combined Cadet Force.
British High Commissioner to Jamaica David Fitton, who is winding down his four-year diplomatic mission to Jamaica described the occasion “a real honour.”
The aircraft came after extensive work by Combined Cadet Force volunteer Victor Beek, following a September 2015 meeting with then British Prime Minister David Cameron, who had made an official visit to the island.
“It’s a great way to finish my four years here in Jamaica, to see that coordination, cooperation between our two countries in such a concrete form,” Fitton said.
The plane named Beek Airline, in honour of Beek, is the only one with the British and Jamaican flags on its tail.
